Trails is an audiovisual composition that employs generative mechanisms to establish aesthetic relationships between music and imagery. These mechanisms employ both predetermined temporal proportions and simulations of flocking behavior in order to balance compositional deliberation and elements of unpredictability. This algorithmic ambivalence between natural and artificial processes is resumed musically and visually as concurrent layers of natural and synthetic instruments.
