Stright (singular) or Strightes (plural) have been developed as computer controlled light objects for dance and music performances. These objects consists of an aluminium frame containing twelve fluorescent tubes as well as twelve digital power supply units. The power supply units are controlled via the DALI protocol ( link ). A combination of Max/MSP patches and a Midi to Dali converter C-program allow simple interactive and scripted control of the light level of each individual fluorescent tube. So far, two Strightes objects exist and have been show on stage for a dance and reading performance entitled "Sprachschatten - Schattentanz" (which roughly translates into "wordshade - shadedance"). This performance has been a collaborative project with writer Rita Roedel, director Monika Peter and dancers Renate Lerch and Silvia Coulin.
